26-27th Nov - NER Youth LC ChampionshipsA total of 14 swimmers represented DARTES in the North East Region Youth Championships held at Leeds International Pool. The swimmers won a total of 1 Silver and 2 Bronze medals with 6 other finalists:

4th - [Name Removed] - 100 Breast For all the DARTES swimmers times and results, Click Here 20th Nov - Inter County MastersDARTES swimmers Allistair Davies and Kev Nicholas along with Doncaster Masters swimmer Brian Taylor competed for the Yorkshire team in the annual ASA Inter County Masters competition held at the Hydro, Harrogate. The Doncaster swimmers helped Yorkshire to victory in the Regional round of the competition beating arch rivals Lancashire. In the National standings Yorkshire finished second overall, beaten again by Warwickshire: 1st - Warwickshire - 1654 points 5-6th Nov - NER Age Group SC ChampionshipsA total of 8 swimmers represented DARTES in the North East Region Age Group Short Course Championships held at The Hydro, Harrogate. 8-9th October - Yorkshire ASA Winter CompetitionA record breaking 18 Gold medals were won by the DARTES swimmers at the Yorkshire Winter Championships. This was 7 more than any other club competing at these championships. Altogether the DARTES swimmers won a total of 18 Gold, 10 Silver, 3 Bronze medals with 23 other finalists (Top 10): Laura Hirst - 5 Gold Congratulations to Max Litchfield and Chantal Aldridge who both achieved National Qualifying Times for 2006. 29th August - New Chief Coach AppointedA new chief coach has recently been appointed for the DARTES training scheme, the background leading to this new appointment is as follows: A swimming development partnership model was approved by the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council (DMBC) in April 2005. The partners involved include the Doncaster Metropolitan Amateur Swimming Association (DMASA), the local swimming clubs, the DARTES training scheme and the DMBC. The aim of the partnership is to have a co-ordinated approach to swimming development across the borough and to enable children to have the opportunity to reach their true potential within swimming. As part of the partnership model, the DMBC has been successful in employing a full time chief coach for the DARTES training scheme. The new coach will also act as an advisor and support all the feeder clubs within the DMASA. The newly appointed coach is Roy Shepherdson, who will start at the beginning of October by doing a number of presentations for the parents / swimmers of DARTES and the DMASA feeder clubs. Details of venues and dates to be advised. Mick Gartside who has been the DARTES Chief Coach for the last seven years will continue up to the Winter Yorkshire Championships in October. Mick's dedication and commitment as a volunteer over the years has enabled the club to survive. He has overseen many DARTES successes at county, district and national championships and will still be involved with swimming in Doncaster in the future years. Profile of New Chief Coach - Roy ShepherdsonIn his own words a profile of the newly appointed DARTES chief coach Roy Shepherdson: Born Hull 1978 Roy Shepherdson Roy will begin his role as DARTES chief coach at the beginning of October and will start coaching on Monday 10th October. 4-9th Aug - ASA National Youth ChampionshipsA total of 4 swimmers and 2 teams represented DARTES in the 2005 ASA National Youth Championships held at Ponds Forge. The swimmers were: Alison Pennell, Chantal Aldridge, [Name Removed] & Katie Johnson. Katie Johnson finished 5th in the final of the 16/17 Year 200m Medley with a 1.44 second PB. [Name Removed] finished 7th in the final of the 16/17 Year 100m Breaststroke with a 2.66 second PB. Lizzy also recorded a 5.63 second PB to finish 7th in the final of 16/17 Year 200m Breaststroke. Chantal Aldridge finished 12th in the 14/15 Year 100m Breaststroke with a 1.24 second PB. Alison Pennell finished 13th in the 16/17 Year 100m Freestyle with a 0.20 second PB. 11/12th Jun - NEC Age Group ChampionshipsA total of 8 swimmers from DARTES competed in the second weekend of competition at the North East Counties Age Group Championships held at Ponds Forge (50m). The swimmers built on their success of the first weekend winning a further 2 Gold, 5 Silver, 3 Bronze & 3 Fifth place finishes: GOLD - Laura Hirst - 10 Yrs 200m Free 5th - Max Litchfield - 10 Yrs 100m Breast Congratulations to Max Litchfield and Laura Hirst who despite being only 10 yrs old both achieved National Qualifying Times for the 11 yrs age group in the 400m Medley and 200m Freestyle respectively. 14th May - Yorkshire Masters ChampionshipsJust the one swimmer from DARTES competed in the Yorkshire Masters Championships held at Scarborough, that was Kevin Nicholas who won 3 Silver (50m Fly, 50m Breast, 50m Free) and 2 Bronze medals (50m Back, 100m Medley). 29/30th Jan - Harrogate Open21 swimmers from DARTES competed in the 2005 Harrogate Open Meet. Between them they collected 79 medals, including 10 Gold, 19 Silver and 15 Bronze: Gold, Silver & Bronze Medallists: Max Litchfield - 3 Gold, 5 Silver, 1 Bronze 9th Jan - Speedo LeagueAn excellent start to the year as the DARTES team claim victory in division one of the National Speedo League (North East). Final Scores A close contest all the way with York, building to an exciting finish. The DARTES team showed their strength in the final relay events to claim a well deserved victory. There were excellent swims all round in particular by Katie Johnson who got the team off to a great start, winning the first race (200m Medley) in a National Qualifying Time. |
