Goal Time Calculator (Experimental)

For well-trained athletes, target training pace can be estimated for the various energy zones based on current PB times. Similarly, if an athlete has a goal race time in mind (club record, championship qualifying time, etc), a gap analysis can be performed to estimate the required training pace to achieve that goal race time.

Every body responds to training loads differently. This tool should give you a good ball-park figure, but adjustments will be necessary for the individual based on a number of factors.

Calculate Training Goal Pace

Inputs

Enter your current PB, your target time, and how many months remain until the target competition. Times should be entered as msshh with no punctuation. That means 1:23.45 would be typed as 12345.

Analysis

This analysis is guidance only. It will give you a ball-park figure of the training pace you need to achieve each month to hit your goal race time. The older and better trained an athlete is, the more accurate this will be (best with 14 years and over).

Assumptions

Everything is calculated around a theoretical 100m time. If you enter a 50m PB, it calculates a theoretical 100m time to base calculations from. Similarly if you enter a 200m PB, it will calculate a theoretical 100m time.

It works with the following widely accepted assumptions:
